Rosalind Eleazar’s on-screen fiancĂ© mysteriously vanishes in ‘Missing You,’ but off-screen, both she and costar Ashley Walters are married
Missing You unravels the story of a fiancĂ©’s sudden disappearance — but in real life, many members of the Netflix thriller’s cast have steady partners by their side.
Adapted from Harlan Coben’s bestselling novel, the limited series follows Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) as she stumbles across her ex-fiancĂ© Josh Buchanan (Ashley Walters) on a dating app 11 years after he mysteriously vanished from her life.
Josh’s reappearance forces Kat to confront the unresolved mystery of her father’s murder while uncovering long-buried secrets from her past, including those she might prefer to leave behind. While Kat’s on-screen love life is full of twists and heartbreak, her off-screen relationship is much more constant.
Eleazar has been married to her husband, Gabriele Lo Giudice, since their romantic Grecian wedding on Sept. 23, 2023. Meanwhile, her on-screen fiancé has been married to his wife, Danielle Walters, since 2013.
Here’s everything to know about the real-life partners of the Missing You cast.
Rosalind Eleazar and Gabriele Lo Giudice
Rosalind Eleazar leads the ensemble of Missing You as Detective Kat Donovan, who finds her ex-fiancé Josh on a dating app 11 years after he mysteriously disappeared.
In real life, Eleazar married her husband, Gabriele Lo Giudice, on Paros Island in Greece on Sept. 23, 2023. In honor of their first anniversary, Giudice shared photos from the event on Instagram with the caption, “Wish we could do it all over again.”
While the two haven’t revealed how they first met, Eleazar wrote on Instagram in May 2018 that she was celebrating one year with “this beautiful man.”
As a fellow actor, Giudice has appeared in the television series Leonardo and Atlanta, as well as the 2019 film Mr. Devil.
Ashley Walters and Danielle Walters
Ashley Walters — who stars as Josh Buchanan, Kat Donovan’s fiancĂ© who went missing — wed his wife Danielle Walters in 2013.
In June 2022, Ashley shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute in honor of their nine-year anniversary, writing, “As this world around us changes everyday and we evolve as individuals, I always look to my side and see you.”
“You are the strength in this dynamic and I wouldn’t be anywhere without you. I would rather save our marriage as many times as it takes than start again,” he added. “Thanks for trusting me with your heart. It’s been an absolute pleasure and long may it continue.”
In June 2024, Danielle posted on Instagram that they were celebrating “12 years together” and “20 years of friendship.” The pair have also welcomed two children together.
Sir Lenny Henry and Lisa Makin
Sir Lenny Henry, who plays Clint Donovan, found love with casting director and theater producer Lisa Makin in the early 2010s, a few years after his divorce from comedian Dawn French.
In an August 2012 interview with The Mirror, he described himself as being “in a happy place” thanks to his new romance.
“It’s different and it’s nice. Life changes and life moves on,” Henry said. “It’s like one chapter closes and another opens. It’s good and it’s on the upswing – and that’s fantastic.”
He and French continue to co-parent their child, Billie, per Bustle.
Steve Pemberton and Alison Rowles
Steve Pemberton, who takes on the role of Titus, has been with his girlfriend Alison Rowles for many years.
In May 2019, Pemberton was asked by The Guardian about the love of his life, to which he responded, “My other half, Alison. She is kindness personified.”
When asked about the best kiss of his life, he said it happened with Alison “in the shadow of Big Ben,” after they walked home from watching Swan Lake.
Together, they have welcomed three children: Lucas, Madeleine and Adam.
Lisa Faulkner and John Torode
Lisa Faulkner, who joins the cast as Dana Fells, had a few encounters with her husband, John Torode, before they fell in love.
Torode is best known for his role as co-host and judge of BBC1’s MasterChef, Celebrity Masterchef and Junior MasterChef. But long before his career took off, he appeared on a 1996 episode of This Morning to be introduced as the show’s new chef. Faulkner happened to be watching as he made his on-screen cooking debut, per The Mirror.
In November 2022, Faulkner told the outlet that Torode didn’t remember that encounter, but he added that seeing the footage brought back some memories of their initial meeting.
“But try to imagine, I was young, it was my first day cooking live on television,” Torode said. “I was probably completely distracted by that, wasn’t I? Rather than by the hottie who was on the sofa.”
Though the encounter wasn’t a memorable one, they would cross paths again. In 2010, Faulkner appeared on and won Celebrity Masterchef, with Torode as one of the judges.
Their love story started a few years later, and the pair eventually tied the knot in 2019 at Aynhoe Park in England.
Samantha Spiro and Mark Leadbetter
Samantha Spiro, who portrays Nurse Sally Steiner, has been married to Mark Leadbetter since 2002.
Though they keep their romantic life out of the spotlight, Spiro has occasionally shared glimpses of their two daughters — Heidi and Harriet — on Instagram.
Much like his wife, Leadbetter is also an actor, most known for a 1997 episode of Highlander, a 2009 episode of Primeval and the 2011 film A Thousand Kisses Deep.
Mary Malone and Yasser Zadeh
Mary Malone, who plays Aqua, is dating fellow actor Yasser Zadeh.
While the pair haven’t revealed how they met, they began posting on Instagram together in 2022. Since then, Malone and Zadeh have shared glimpses of their relationship including trips together to Amsterdam and Barcelona.
According to Zadeh’s Instagram bio, Zadeh is a fellow actor who appeared in the Netflix series KAOS.
Matt Willis and Emma Willis
Matt Willis, who steps into the role of Darryl, met his wife Emma Willis when she was one of his bridesmaids — sort of.
At the time, Matt was part of the band Busted, known for their hit “Crash the Wedding.” During an appearance on MTV’s TRL, where Emma was a presenter, the band staged a fake wedding in which Matt pretended to marry a fan, and Emma played one of the pretend bridesmaids.
During an August 2024 appearance on Capital XTRA, Emma recalled thinking to herself, “Underneath all that makeup, he’s really cute.” Meanwhile, Matt was already smitten.
“I watched TRL and I knew exactly who that hot girl from MTV was,” he added.
The couple began dating in the early 2000s, got married on July 5, 2008, and went on to welcome three kids.
Their on-screen chemistry is still going strong. In 2024, the couple teamed up as co-hosts of Love Is Blind: UK. That August, Emma opened up to Hunger Magazine about how their busy schedules have made their time together more valuable, even if that means working.
“We treat it as a little holiday without the kids,” she said. “The fact that now we can work together, it’s still time for us just to be with each other.”
Although they are helping other couples find love on TV, Matt and Emma haven’t shied away from discussing their marriage struggles.
“What makes a marriage strong is not ducking out when times are tough,” Matt said. “We’ve had some really tough times, but we’ve always known we want to be together. That never wavered.”
Jessica Plummer
Jessica Plummer — who plays Stacey Embalo — appears to be single, but has another special love in her life: her daughter, Noa.
The actress welcomed Noa — whom she shares with her ex-partner Jaz Hutchins — on July 30, 2016, per her Instagram. Although Plummer and Hutchins have split, she told the Daily Mail in January 2021 that they continue to remain close co-parents.
“It is very equal, with both of our jobs things are so up in the air, but he is a wonderful dad and I don’t have a bad word to say about him as a parent,” she said. “Noa’s dad and I have been in each other’s lives for such a long time. Yes, I am single right now, but I will always love him, he will always be my family and we fully share responsibility for Noa.”
Plummer added that she was “enjoying the freedom of single life” after “too many headaches from too many boys.”
Richard Armitage
In Missing You, Richard Armitage stars as DCI Ellis Stagger, a police officer harboring secrets.
Armitage told the Radio Times in April 2023 that he is “a bit of a romantic.”
“When you’re young you dream about that sensation of being swept off your feet,” he said.
The actor also opened up about his sexuality, saying, “[Coming out] happened when I was 19 — to anyone who mattered — and I was always waiting for that question to punch me in the face, and it never did. I thought, ‘Are people being polite, or is it that they don’t want to know?’ “
Armitage added, “I love the idea that whatever gender, sexuality, the fluidity of who you love, how you identify, is not fixed.”
