“Since we’ve been married, we’ve done a lot of traveling and that’s been something that kind of gives you that renewed spark,” Cameron Hamilton tells PEOPLE of his marriage to Lauren Speed-Hamilton
Five years may have passed in Lauren Speed-HamiltonĀ andĀ Cameron Hamilton’s marriage, but the Love Is BlindĀ couple still manages to keep the flame alive!
As the month of love nears its end, the pair, who are partnering with Lay’s to launch their new Sweet & Spicy Honey flavored chips, open up to PEOPLE about the secret behind their successful marriage and their favorite things about each other.
“With Cam, he definitely has a little spicy sensual side,” says Lauren, 36. “I would say he’s very ā I don’t think I need to say much, but I think you get where I’m going with that ā he loves his wife in the spiciest ways. And she’s very appreciative of that.”
“He’s an amazing partner. He’s so supportive, so loving,” she continues. “I mean, he is just a beautiful man that’s spicy.”
Speaking about his wife, Cameron, 33, shares: “When it comes to her family, she does not play. She will be the very first to defend her family no matter what, and which I really love that about her.”
“And in terms of sweet, I feel like Lauren, her sweet side doesn’t get enough attention publicly. So I want to make that known that she can be a sweetheart,” he notes. “And for me, I think I see that in so many different ways. One thing that I really love is when she will write little notes for me…. She really likes to write cards and she’s so consistent, which I really love about Lauren. She’s not the person to switch up on you and be a different person the next day. Just she’s very much a solid person, which I think is kind of a rare thing to find.”
When it comes to keeping things exciting in their marriage, Lauren and Cameron agree that travel plays a huge role.
“You really need to have novel experiences, in whatever ways those might be relevant for you as a couple,” Cameron says. “One thing that I really appreciate about Lauren is she’s a big travel bug. I enjoy travel, it’s not something that I usually make a priority, but since we’ve been married, we’ve done a lot of traveling and that’s been something that kind of gives you that renewed spark of novelty in the relationship.”
“But it doesn’t have to be something as big as that,” he acknowledges. “It could be as simple as like, ‘Oh, we’ve always wanted to go to this farmer’s market together. Let’s just go.’ There’s really no time like the present. … You do have to make time for fun, you really do. I mean, it sounds so almost trivial, but you really do have to make time for it.”
Lauren agrees, “Yeah, I feel like new experiences make things fresh and exciting, and that’s one of my favorite things for us to do as a couple. Like Cam said, whether it’s the farmer’s market, whether we’re going to a game night we never went to before, whether even it’s just a new show that just came out that we’re both excited about or we’re watching it and yelling at the TV. Just new experiences, breaking up the monotony of the everyday is so important.”
Another new experience the duo is tackling together is their Lay’s partnership, which includes introducing fans to their “Marry Me” chicken tenders, a dish that sealed the deal in their relationship. The tenders are made with Lay’s new “swicy” potato chips and the recipe also features a sweet and spicy dipping sauce created by the Hamiltons.
“I think we already all know that Lay’s is America’s favorite chip,” Cameron says. “So I think for us, why this made perfect sense, this partnership is Lay’s Sweet and Spicy Honey flavored Chips. I mean, it represents Lauren and I because we are the sweet and spicy duo. We’re the yin to each other’s yang, that sort of perfect harmony of sweet and spicy. Swicy, if you will. So I think if you were to put us into a chip form, this would be the chip.”
“Exactly,” adds Lauren. “It’s perfect!”
