The couple met and married on season 1 of the hit Netflix series
Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are sharing their fertility journey with fans for the first time.
On the Wednesday, Oct. 23 episode of the couple’s new podcast The Love Seat, the Love Is Blind stars begin by “talking about something that we’ve never talked about before,” Speed-Hamilton explains, “which is fertility and our fertility journey.” After meeting and marrying on the first season of the Netflix series in 2018, Hamilton notes, “The number one question we are always asked is, ‘When are you going to have a baby?’”
“This conversation is not the easiest for me,” Speed-Hamilton, 36, admits. “I’ll be honest, I like to share a lot of things but this is one that’s still kind of tough. But I think it’s so important to talk about it so that you can see yourself in the conversation that we’re about to have.”
Hamilton, 34, then asks his wife how she thinks their fertility struggle has impacted their relationship.
“It has made us feel more connected. I think we support each other, we’re more in tune now,” she responds, adding, “I feel like in marriage, or any type of relationship, when you go through something that’s big and heavy or weighs on your heart, it creates a bond.”
“I think that it’s actually made us stronger,” she concludes, and Hamilton completely agrees.
The proud husband then begins to tear up as he recounts their experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF) from his own perspective.
“When I saw what you were going through in terms of of taking the medications, doing the daily shots,” he explains, all while “knowing that IVF and all this stuff wasn’t really something that you naturally wanted to do but you did it for me — you showed me a new level of love that I’d never seen before.”
Speed-Hamilton jokingly tells him not to cry before sweetly saying, “Thank you, baby.”
Later in the episode, Hamilton offers some advice to other men who may be witnessing their partner go through a similar fertility experience to their own: “As men, our first instinct, it seems, is to want to fix things,” he shares. “When we’ve been struggling to conceive, my first instinct is to dive into the research on fertility, IVF, try to consume everything I can (and) come up with a strategy, how are we going to improve the next time.”
When the couple first premiered their podcast earlier this month, they brought on Love Is Blind costars Amber and Matt Barnett, who announced that they are expecting their first baby together.
Giving a quick life update, Amber, 32, shared, “I sent myself back to school because I felt like we were in a place where I could do that, like, I had the support and I was mentally there.”
“Then, over summer break, he just went and knocked me up,” she revealed, pointing to Matt, 34.
“There’s a baby Barnett on the way!” Lauren cheered and clapped.
“The biggest congratulations to you guys, I’m so excited,” Lauren exclaimed, while Cameron added he’s “ready to be an uncle.”
