Love Is Blind star Nick Dorka caught a lot of the heat during the season 7 reunion regarding some comments he allegedly made about ex-fiancée Hannah Jiles after their reveal. However, the Virginia-based realtor said he wasn’t the only male member of the cast who discussed the ladies’ looks.
“On the way to Mexico, when [the men] were sitting on the bus, we all talked about the women’s looks, and somehow I got thrown under the bus,” Nick, 29, said in an interview with Vulture published on November 1. “I’m not going to air your dirty laundry just because you aired mine. That’s not the type of man I am, and I think that’s shown on the show, and I’m really pleased that people see how genuine and real I was with this whole process. But people could have taken accountability for their actions.”
At the reunion, Hannah, 27, claimed that she was told that Nick referred to her as a “grenade,” along with other negative comments, and her costars Marissa George, Monica Davis and Alex Byrd backed her up. Marissa, 32, alleged that Nick made a comment to her ex-fiancé Ramses Prashad and Monica, 37, said the same about her ex Stephen Richardson. However, Nick adamantly denied ever calling Hannah a “grenade” when speaking to Vulture.
“I never called Hannah a grenade. I said I was a little underwhelmed, but we all were, right? It was a very stressful time,” Nick explained. “One thing I can say about it is, I never talked to Stephen once in Mexico, so I don’t know what he’s talking about.”
He continued, “I might have had a conversation off-camera with Ramses that was meant to be guy-to-guy. He told me some stuff. I told him some stuff. It was never, like, throwing shade at Hannah. We were just being real. But I guess pillow talk’s a real thing, so then he might have said something to Marissa.”
As for any comments made about Hannah, Nick claimed the other men said that she was “a little less attractive than [they] thought.” However, Nick still felt the need to give Hannah at least a little bit of grace.
“Not that she’s not a beautiful person,” Nick told the publication. “We weren’t calling any of the women ugly. I don’t think Hannah’s ugly. I would never tell the other guys, ‘Yeah, she’s a grenade.’ That’s not me. We all had those conversations where it was like, you know, They’re pretty women, but not what we expected. That type of thing.”
Fans saw Nick and Hannah have one of the more dramatic relationships during season 7 and while the two connected strongly in the pods, they seemed to hit a roadblock once they met in person. Viewers have slammed Hannah for her treatment of Nick during the episodes. However, even though she admitted that she talked to Nick “horribly,” she said she was confused about why he would “let” her treat him that way.
“It’s really hard for me to understand it and I still have trouble understanding him to this day. But I think he was surprised because he wanted to go all the way,” Hannah said during an interview with Us Weekly published on October 23. “I don’t think it should have been a shock because it was pretty obvious that we weren’t gonna make it. I was talking to him horribly and I apologize for that, but I just can’t believe he let me. I should not have done that, but he’d let me do it.”
