Love Is Blind Season 5’s Renee Poche, with legal papers and a judge's gavel behind her

Summary

  • Renee Poche’s appeal to sue Love Is Blind production company denied by Judge Iwasaki.
  • Production company warned Renee not to speak publicly about the case.
  • Love Is Blind participants’ experiences remain a topic of debate, but the legal system found no evidence to support Renee’s claims.

Love Is Blind season 5 participant Renee Poche has been waiting on a decision after attempting to appeal her lawsuit against the series, but will be disappointed with the choice made by the courts. While Renee wasn’t featured on the Netflix reality TV series after participating in the pod phase of the show, her experiences on Love Is Blind season 5 were difficult to overcome. After returning home from the show, Renee chose to sue the production company behind the successful show for various issues like unlawful employment practices, unfair competition, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“Judge Iwasaki has now denied Poche’s petition to appeal”

According to the ruling released by People, the appeal Renee filed came to a crashing halt after months of waiting for a decision. The outlet shared that “Judge Iwasaki has now denied Poche’s petition to appeal the arbitration,” which is “another victory for the production company.” While Renee maintains that her time on Love Is Blind season 5 caused her severe trauma, she wasn’t able to prove as much in the court system, while the production company behind the mega-successful series, was able to prove they were above board. Renee was accused of having “absolutely no evidence” during their initial trial in March.

While Renee’s time on Love Is Blind season 5 wasn’t something she remembers fondly, she’s been upfront about what happened to her during her time on the series and spoken out about it in the press. During the initial trial, Renee was “asked to stop her unauthorized interviews” after speaking publicly about the case in the media. Delirium TV, the production company behind Love Is Blind, shared that they’d warned Renee not to speak about the situation publicly, as her “continued breaches of the participant agreement would result in Delirium filing arbitration [of their own].”

Renee’s Love Is Blind experience was traumatizing for her, but the legal system didn’t feel she had evidence to support the serious claims she’d lodged against the streaming series. While Renee’s time in the pod phase may have been mentally difficult, the courts agreed that the Netflix series didn’t sell their cast a false bill of goods surrounding the environment the participants on the show were provided. The majority of Love Is Blind participants have kept quiet about their experiences on the show, but some have agreed with Renee’s assessment of her time on the series.

While it’s surely disappointing for Renee to learn that her appeal has been denied, the clarification in her case will likely help the Love Is Blind star to move on from the experience and focus on her future. With Renee’s story not having been shown on Love Is Blind, it’s difficult for viewers to get behind her surrounding the allegations she’s lodged against the series. Even so, knowing that she had such a poor experience on Love Is Blind is enough for some to feel that the series needs a total and complete overhaul.
