“Love Is Blind” season seven is finally here — and while some couples have made it out of the pods, it’s unclear if they’ll make it all the way to the altar.
The series is one of Netflix’s most successful reality franchises, drawing in hundreds of millions of hours in watch time in 2023 and the first half of 2024, according to Netflix engagement reports. It has also spawned numerous international editions on Netflix that feature singles from Japan, Brazil, Sweden, Mexico, and most recently, the United Kingdom.
Season seven of the flagship series based in the US premiered Wednesday on Netflix. It features 20- and 30-somethings who live in or near the nation’s capital city. From a cast of nearly 30, six couples make it out of the show’s pods engaged without ever having seen one another and continue onto a group vacation in Mexico.
Alex, a 33-year-old producer, and Tim, a 33-year-old web content strategist, are one of those couples. While there are still many more “Love Is Blind” season seven episodes left, here’s what we know about their journey so far and their relationship status post-filming.
Alex and Tim hit it off in the pods, but experience some difficulties in Mexico
Before meeting face-to-face, Alex and Tim bond over how their parents’ relationships influenced their own views of marriage. In episode one, Tim opens up about the death of his two older sisters, and Alex tells him that both her parents were diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system.
On a date in episode four, Tim gives Alex a bracelet that his oldest sister had given his middle sister with the inscription, “Love eternal, sis.”
“Unfortunately, you don’t have the opportunity to meet the two people that will be your sisters, but everything I know about them and everything I know about you, I know that they love you,” he tells her.
Tim proposes to Alex in episode four, and she accepts. After finally meeting face to face during their reveal, they travel to Mexico with five other couples in episode five.
While things initially appear to be going well, aside from some light roasting, they ultimately encounter difficulties on that vacation. The two have an apparent off-screen argument and deal with the aftermath in episode six after a party where they meet the other couples.
During their discussion after the off-screen fight, Alex says that her behavior was caused by homesickness, but she didn’t feel like discussing it. Tim says that he felt “shunned” and “disrespected,” and Alex says that she covered his mouth during an argument but felt “belittled.”
“I love you. You have a ring on your finger,” Tim tells Alex. “But at a certain point, I have to have some respect for myself too. I have to figure out how to get in a good space and place again to where I can see you as my wife, the mother of my children.”
At the end of the discussion, Tim says that he’s not sure if he’s ready for them to sleep in the same room again, though Alex asks for him to return.
Alex and Tim follow each other on Instagram as of the show’s premiere
Alex and Tim don’t appear to break up immediately after their conversation in episode six. In the preview for the next batch of episodes, they’re seen arguing, and Alex has a separate discussion with her family that’s presumably about Tim.
“You are my family. If you guys don’t like him, then I can’t see myself with him,” she says.
Alex and Tim still follow each other on Instagram as of writiing. However, it didn’t appear that they had liked, or otherwise engaged with, each other’s cast portrait posts on the platform announcing their participation in the show.
Only time will tell if Alex and Tim are able to make it past their issues.
The next episodes of “Love Is Blind” season seven will air on Wednesday, October 9 on Netflix.
