Netflix’s popular dating series Love Is Blind is continuing to expand into new borders. After the reality TV series has found success in its original form, the series’ creators have continued to create spin-offs in other countries.
In a recent presentation from Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, fans learned that yet another version of the show would be coming to their screens soon. So which country will be the latest host of the popular dating experiment?
Netflix Announced The Newest Love Is Blind Spin-off
This past week, at an international showcase hosted by Netflix, the streaming platform made a major announcement: a new Love Is Blind spin-off would be coming to fans in 2025. So far, the series has extended to a whopping ten countries, including versions filmed in the UK, Argentina, Japan, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
Chris Coelen is unapologetic about his reality TV creation.
Leading up to the announcement, Bela explained that their goal in expanding Love Is Blind was not just to spawn as many shows as possible, but rather to tailor each series to be reflective of the dating culture of that community. She elaborated on their strategy at the showcase:
We’ve changed the show to fit different cultures — so Love is Blind: Sweden feels completely different from Love is Blind: Habibi, which connects Arab singles. I love Love is Blind and how it explores different cultures through dating. And it’s just so fun.
The Next Version Of Love Is Blind Will Take Place In Europe
After the buildup, it was finally announced that the host country for the next Love Is Blind series would be none other than France. While there have been other versions of the show in Europe, this will be the first to take place in the country. Per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the cameras have already begun rolling, with filming starting back in October.
Though there hasn’t been an official airdate announced, Netflix did confirm that the season would premiere on their platform sometime within the next year. Bela went on to emphasize the pride that they had in the franchise, sharing how it took reality dating series to a new level:
Love is Blind is a very unique format in the sense that it truly tries to find compatibility before chemistry.
Several other details of the show remain unclear as of now. Who the hosts of the show will be, for one thing, have yet to be disclosed. Fans of the show will know that the US version has been hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey since Season 1, and the UK version sees celebrity couple Emma and Matt Willis stepping into the role.
During Netflix’s announcement, they spoke about wanting to expand into global programming without making content that was designed to appeal to as many people across the globe as possible. Rather, Bela explained that they were trying to curate a variety of content that would specifically target different groups, offering something for everyone.
“Many people assume that the easiest way to program for such a huge audience is to make global hits that everyone can enjoy,” she said, “Once in a rare while, that’s the goal, but mostly it’s not.” In addition to announcing Love Is Blind: France, the streamer also announced a variety of other international programming, both scripted and unscripted.
While fans of the franchise are still waiting to hear the details of Love Is Blind: France, no doubt it will explore some of the cultural differences within the French dating culture. Currently, the most recent international spin-off of the show comes in the form of Love Is Blind: Argentina, which just aired the season finale this past week and which will air its reunion episode this upcoming week.
The Argentinian version of the show gives American viewers a glimpse into a few dating cultural differences, examples both big and small. Some may even strike viewers as comical; in one instance, a couple who matches in the pods seems to be having the picture-perfect love story, only to realize that they root for rival football teams, making them reconsider.
For viewers who are eager to get their fill of Love Is Blind, all current seasons (including all of the spin-offs) are available to stream on Netflix now.
