The British presenter and pop star have been together for 20 years.
Well, the time has come to jump back into the world of Love Is Blind! At least, sort of.
The hit Netflix franchise continues to draw in viewers worldwide, and now fans have a whole new version of the hit reality show that creates love matches without either partner knowing what their fiancé looks like. With the release of Love Is Blind: UK — which dropped on August 7 and airs new episodes over the nest three weeks — viewers will get to see brand-new love stories unfold over the course of 11 episodes.
But while it will be some time before we know which matches make it past the pods or out of the reality TV bubble, we do know about one couple who already have an incredible dating track record. Who are they, you ask? Well, that would be Love Is Blind: UK hosts Matt Willis and Emma Willis, who have been married for close to 20 years. Before we dive into the newest couples coming from Netflix, let’s learn more about Matt and Emma’s relationship.
Who is hosting Love Is Blind: UK?
Longtime couple Matt and Emma Willis (née Griffiths) are the official hosts of Love Is Blind: UK, and this couple knows a little bit about an unconventional love story!
Per Cosmopolitan UK, Matt and Emma met and began dating back in 2004. At the time, Emma was a presenter for MTV UK, while Matt was a part of the British pop band Busted. As Emma shared in a 2015 interview on Lorraine, the two were friends before she asked Matt out on a date.
“We just became friends, and friends became a bit more,” Emma revealed at the time. “I chased him for a little bit.”
They got engaged three years later in 2007 on a trip to Venice, Italy, and wed one year after that in 2008. The couple later welcomed daughters Isabelle (born in 2009) and Trixie (born in 2016), along with son Ace (born in 2011).
While Matt and Emma have overcome highs and lows in their marriage (including Matt battling drug and alcohol addiction), Matt told Hello! the two have always put in the work in order to make their romance succeed.
“We’ve been married for 16 years now and there have been lots of ups and downs, but it’s always worth the work,” he told the outlet on August 7. “It’s about being open with each other and honesty, because if you’re holding on to something, it will eventually come out as something else.”
