Netflix dating show phenomenon Love Is Blind crashed onto laptops and television screens worldwide in 2020.
The programme follows fifteen men and women date who date in specialised pods for 10 days without once seeing each other’s faces. They then live together for one week at a romantic resort, but only if there has been a proposal.
Then, while living together in an apartment for three weeks, the couples plan their wedding with friends and family. Finally, at the altar, they decide whether they want to go ahead and get legally married.
An instant hit, Netflix was quick to cash in, and Love Is Blind now has remakes in Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, the UAE, and the UK.
Now, ahead of the launch Wednesday launch of Love Is Blind UK, here is a look at all the couples from the original US series who are still together.
Season 1 – Amber and Barnett
Amber Pike and Matt Barnett (pictured in June) celebrated their five-year anniversary in November 2023
Amber Pike and Matt Barnett celebrated their five-year anniversary in November 2023.
They passed the final test during their appearance on the show, choosing to say ‘I do’ when they were given the chance to walk away at the altar.
However, their union had a rocky start as Matt was initially swayed by fellow contestant Jessica Batten in the pods.
The couple later also had difficult conversations about their finances.
In an Instagram post celebrating their anniversary, Amber said: ‘Lord knows there is plenty that we have gotten wrong over the years, but the most important thing that I’m so thankful that we’ve gotten right…’
Season 1 – Cameron and Lauren
Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are perhaps the most memorable couple in Love Is Blind history
Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are perhaps the most memorable couple in Love Is Blind history.
Enjoying an instant spark in the pods, Lauren and Cameron were the first to get engaged and they tied the knot along with Amber and Barnett.
They, too, celebrated their five-year anniversary in November.
Renewing their vows in Las Vegas, Lauren said at the time: ‘Every day feels like I fall more and more in love with Cam, which I didn’t even know was possible.’
The two regularly dish about their romance on social media, as well as on their YouTube channel, Hanging With The Hamiltons, where they answer questions about their relationship and give fans updates about what their lives look like now.
Season 3 – Alexa and Brennon
Alexa Alfia and Brennon Lemieux fell head over heels in love from their first conversation in the pods
Alexa Alfia and Brennon Lemieux fell head over heels in love from their first conversation in the pods.
Despite Alexa being Jewish and Brennon Christian, they bonded over their shared values, both appreciating family and a good sense of humour.
They were not seen arguing in a single episode and during their wedding, Brennon vowed that their love would be ‘never-ending’.
Alexa and Brennon have had babies on the mind from the start and, in January, their wishes came true: the pair are expecting a baby girl.
However, conceiving had not been easy, with Alexa revealing at the Season 6 reunion: ‘We weren’t sure it was ever going to happen for us. I can’t wait to have our love be physical in a baby.’
Season 3 – Colleen and Matt
When viewers met Colleen Reed in Season Three, she was developing connections with Brennon and Cole Barnett (pictured with Matt)
When viewers met Colleen Reed in Season Three, she was developing connections with Brennon and Cole Barnett.
But, Brennon told Colleen that he did not see a future with her.
Then, Colleen and Cole went their separate ways after she shared that she typically does not have “deep” conversations with her significant others.
Colleen sobbed and thought the experiment was over until she decided to give Matt Bolton a second chance.
Matt spoke about being heartbroken after his first wife cheated on him and the importance of marriage. Reed quickly fell in love and enthusiastically agreed to marry him.
Season 4 – Bliss and Zach
Bliss Poureetezadi and Zack Goytowski initially broke up after the pod stage but now have a baby daughter Galileo, two months
Bliss Poureetezadi and Zack Goytowski initially broke up after the pod stage.
They reunited at a restaurant in Seattle to discuss their breakup. He admitted he made a mistake in the pods and that he wanted to try dating again.
Bliss agreed, and by the end of the night, the couple were slow dancing around his kitchen.
In episode 8, Bliss and Zack boarded a yacht and recapped their brief split before Zack knelt on one knee and asked Bliss to marry him.
They married, and their first child, daughter Galileo, was born in May.
Season 4 – Chelsea and Kwame
Kwame Appiah got to know Chelsea Griffin at the same time as Micah Lussier
Kwame Appiah got to know Chelsea Griffin at the same time as Micah Lussier, so their ‘I do’ shocked fans the most.
Kwame seemed slightly heartbroken when Micah called it quits, but he decided to shift his focus completely to Chelsea.
He created an original song called Real Love for Chelsea, which made her swoon before she agreed to marry him.
Then, Chelsea noticed the lengthy and somewhat tense conversation between Kwame and Micah during a pool party. Chelsea and Kwame talked and she sternly told him that she needed to be his main priority, not Micah.
Kwame assured Chelsea that he was confident in his decision to propose to her and they moved on, though Kwame’s flirting came up again at the reunion.
Season 4 – Brett and Tiffany
Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown formed a strong bond during the pods and seemed to be heading toward an engagement before a very unexpected blip
Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown formed a strong bond during the pods but fell foul to a very unexpected blip.
The first episode of season four ended with Tiffany falling asleep during an emotional conversation.
She had drifted off just as Brett was professing his love for her – and this made him doubt how much she really loved him.
Luckily, in their next meeting, when Tiffany explained what happened, Brett was able to forgive and forget.
The pair still became season four’s first couple to get engaged.
Season 5 – Lydia and Milton
Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James ‘Milton’ Johnson IV bonded in the pods over their love of rocks – Lydia is a geologist and Milton, a petroleum engineer
Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James ‘Milton’ Johnson IV bonded in the pods over their love of rocks – Lydia is a geologist and Milton, a petroleum engineer.
This was enough to overcome their 7-year age gap, and their surprise at meeting each other in person.
‘He is nothing what I expected,’ Lydia told the cameras at the time. ‘I am marrying a giant!’
They were further tested by Lydia’s former relationship with Uche Okoroha. But, Milton told TODAY.com, in 2023: ‘I’m not really concerned about anyone that’s dated her in the past.
‘The same way she wouldn’t care about anyone I’ve dated in the past. We were there because we both wanted the chance to potentially get married and find a partner,” he said to TODAY.com.
Season 6 – Amy and Johnny
Amy Cortés and Johnny McIntyre only needed a couple of conversations in the pods to know they were meant to be together
Amy Cortés and Johnny McIntyre only needed a couple of conversations in the pods to know they were meant to be together.
They bonded over their love of family, travel – and Japanese animation style anime.
They grew even closer still when Puerto Rico-native Amy revealed she struggled to make friends growing up and her father once begged other children to come to her birthday party.
Their love confession was accidental. While chatting about something unrelated, Johnny said: ‘I don’t want to change you at all. Like, I love you…’
Realising what he had said, Johnny confessed: ‘Amy, I do love you,’ and Amy laughed before letting him know that the feeling was very much mutual.
