Love Is Blind fans have been busy speculating why Renee Poche and Carter Wall’s relationship was cut from the show.
The fifth season of Netflix’s reality dating show is coming to a close, with many viewers scratching their heads about what happened to the pair, who continued to appear throughout the season as friends of the other participants, despite seemingly not being engaged themselves.
Love Is Blind sees single people getting to know each other through a wall, with each participant sat in a separate pod and unable to see their partner. If they hit it off, the pair can choose to get engaged before meeting in person.

It has been revealed that Renee, a 32-year-old veterinarian, and construction worker Carter, 30, got engaged in the pods, but their entire relationship was cut from the final version of Love I

People quickly flocked to social media to speculate what happened, especially after fans on Reddit and TikTok discovered that they had applied for a marriage license and attended the traditional Mexican trip with other couples from the series.
Renee and Carter even made it to their wedding day, where he was told “no” at the altar.
“We did get engaged in the pods, and we were chosen to be followed for the rest of the journey. We did go all the way to altar, but we did not get married,” Renee confirmed in an interview with PopSugar. “We fell in love with each other in the pods. We were very excitedaout everything, and things went really well in Mexico as well. But once we got back to Houston and back to the real world, I started noticing things that I kind of ignored or blew off that were red flags I should have picked up on. And eventually I did say ‘no’ at the altar.
But other than being spotted in the background of some scenes or interacting with other participants as friends, their relationship was cut entirely from the show.

TikTok creator @storytimewithrikkii shared that a source had told her Renee already had a boyfriend when she entered the Love Is Blind pods, which may have led to producers choosing to cut their storyline. Renee debunked this rumor in her PopSugar interview.
“I was never in a relationship. During casting, I was single, and we didn’t film for about eight months after, and I was single that whole time. I think that rumour came from people seeing that I got married later on, so they were like, ‘It just has to be that this was during the same time.’ But no, I was single, and I even think Carter would say, there were other issues, maybe, but definitely not that,” Renee clarified.
Renee declined to get into specifics on why her relationship with Carter didn’t work, but said, “I’ll eventually explain everything that happened during filming, but I was mostly frustratedaout people saying that I was dating someone else. I’m wild, but I didn’t do anything like that. When we got engaged at the beginning, I was head over heels. We were going to get married, I was sure of it. And then everything unfolded. But no, I was super committed.”
TikToker Rikkii also shared allegations from anonymous sources that Carter had allegedly brought another women to the couple’s shared apartment during the TV experiment.
According to Rikkii’s source, Carter also allegedly threatened producers that there would be “consequences” if they showed his messy storyline. Newsweek has reached out to Carter via Instagram for comment.
Rikkii reached out to Renee herself, and the contestant denied the claims that she was with another partner during her time on the show and reportedly told the TikToker that she married a different man in March this year.
“I did ask her to comment on when she actually met her current husband and she refused to. She also said that it makes her very sad anything to do with their story being cut after everything she went through,” Rikkii said.
